Content Writer For The Web

Content writing has become more important as the Internet continues to grow.  A website that has good "relevant" content can attract customers that result in sales.  It's no secret that keyword rich articles are a driving force in website traffic.   The higher the site ranks with the search engines, the larger the traffic flow.

It's not about jamming your pages with keywords.  The search engines are smarter than that and have certain requirements that need to be met before you can expect your traffic to grow.

  • Content must be relevant.  We've all heard that content is king, but that's only partly true. The search engines (SEO's) want to see copy relevant to the topic at hand.
  • Use relevant keywords and keyword phrases.  A content article should always be centered around these keywords.  Research them on Google or other keyword search programs before you begin writing.
  • The keywords must relate to the subject of that specific page of your website.  Not the home page.
  • An article/page must have keyword density to make an impact on the search engines.  Simply explained, keyword density is the number of times a keyword or keyword phase is used.  Use too few, the SEO's will never find you;  Too many and they may classify you as spam.
  • Links are important.  But make sure your links are relevant to the subject of that page.
  • Back-links to your articles and pages are like votes to a search engine.  Allow other website owners to post on your site if the copy is relevant.

Content writers  are like the sales people who interact with your potential clients.  The  writer's copy must offer relevant content which demonstrates the benefits to the potential buyer.  The copy must also allow for easy search-ability so the prospects can find your website.  And finally, the copy must possess the paragraphs or headlines that attract the search engines themselves.

It's important to remember that the search engines only browse or scan through a page rather than reading it.  So the content writer should write in such a way that it provides the browser with the information it seeks as well as what the customer is looking for.
