Ever want to start a new project, but your mind just feels blocked? Try free-writing. No. It doesn't mean you're writing for free. It's a creative process. It's just writing without rules. Start typing and keep jotting down everything that comes into your mind. Don't stop to analyze or correct grammar or spelling. Just let the thoughts flow.
Don't stop to think, look up words, or ponder about anything. Just keep writing. If you get stuck - don't stop. Just repeat yourself. The idea is to keep going. Your piece probably won't make much sense when you've finished and you go back and read it. But you just might find a nugget or two that you can use. And it will certainly help you get back into the writing frame of mind.
Try this exercise a few times a week until the process feels comfortable to you. Be patient. Eventually you'll find you can write creatively and productively by using this technique.
