Persuasive Writing

There are as many different writing styles as there are writers.  So where do you begin? The first step is research.  Learn as much as you can about your product or application; and research the target audience that would use the products you represent. Here are a few writing strategies you will find useful in delivering your message.

  • Research the product as well as the target audience.  Know what you're talking about. Be convincing when persuading a reader to act upon your copy.
  • Present a potential problem and explain how the benefits of your product will save them time and money   ...  or make their job much easier.  Readers will be receptive to your copy if they see your product as a solution to their particular problem.
  • Use Repetition.   Don't be afraid to repeat the important points you want to make throughout your copy.  Your reader will feel continually reinforced as to their need for this product.
  • Use testimonials.  It's common for buyers to need the reinforcement of others when making a decision.  Give them the confidence and security that they've made the right choice by sharing other success stories with them.
  • Ask for the order.  It's amazing how many companies forget this last, but most important detail.  Make it easy for them to order via a simple click on the Internet - or prominent phone and email in your print ads.

There are many different writing styles that can be used to persuade readers to make purchasing decisions.  Combine any useful research you've obtained as a copywriter and talk directly to those people (prospects) that need your product or service.  Try to be conversational so they feel you're talking directly to them one-on-one.
